We are well into our second week with the design and production of two small Designer Toys. They will be handmade and one-of-a-kind pieces priced around 370 euro. Only one of the creatures has been given a name. The sketch above shows "Beco". A sad little guy with a rotating warning beacon on his head.
Each creature is an autonomous robot and comes with a preprogrammed set of behaviours. It will be possible to choose from two modes of operation. In the running-mode the creature crawls along, blinks its eyes, moves its arms and talks to itself in a very R2D2ish way. In the display-mode the creature will do all of the above minus the running. Running-mode is for playing with the creatures and display-mode is for when you want the creatures to sit still on your favourite shelf, officetable or mantlepiece.
